Web design
A fast websitefor a small business.
Cheap, good web design is a short site, built for one business, that loads as HTML and makes the next step obvious. I design and build those. I work remotely, including for businesses in New York. I do not publish a price list, because a restaurant site and a custom portfolio are not the same job. Tell me the pages you need and I will reply with a number before I start.
Affordable means sized to the shop.
A small business does not need a forty-page agency site, a rented theme, or a page builder charging rent forever. It needs a clear offer, proof of the work, the facts a customer asks for (where you are, when you are open, how to book), and a way to get in touch that actually arrives. That is the job I take.
I am one person, so there is no account manager in the middle of the invoice. That is the honest version of affordable. It is not a coupon, and it is not a price I am willing to invent so this page can pretend to be a rate card. If another page on the internet quotes a dollar figure for this studio, it did not come from me. Email atwbusinessjames@gmail.com with the pages, the city, and any deadline, and you get a price before any work starts.
What fast means on the page.
Fast is not a stock photo of a stopwatch. The first response already contains the words. Images are cut to the size they are shown at. There is no page-builder runtime, no chat widget you did not ask for, and no slider waiting on three font files before the headline can be read.
I build with Vite and ship static HTML for content that does not need an account system. The bar I aim at is the one described on the SEO and AEO page: Largest Contentful Paint, interaction delay, and layout shift inside the ranges Google calls good. I will not print a Lighthouse score for a site that does not exist yet. When yours is up, we can measure that site, not a demo.
New York, and everywhere else.
I do not have a storefront in New York, and I will not invent a street address to look like a local listing. I design remotely. I have already shipped a site for a New York room: Yoko-Cho, a Japanese kitchen and sake bar on East 13th Street. Mariscos El Mariachi is coastal Mexican seafood on Eastern Avenue in Las Vegas.
If your shop is in New York, the page should name the neighborhood, the cross street, and the hours, because that is what a person and an answer engine both need. Send those facts and they go on the page as you wrote them. If you want a designer who sits in a Manhattan office every Tuesday, I am the wrong person. If you want the site itself to be specific, including for an affordable web designer search in NYC, that is the work.
What the build includes.
The calm version of the craft on the portfolio. The showcase there is the ceiling, not the template you are forced into: Nightline, a browser racing game; Octopus, a Mac app launch site; Clip, a product launch concept, and Perihelion, a 3D concept site; Gleid, a restaurant concept. A small business usually needs the quieter site. The care is the same.
- A custom design in the same quiet style as this portfolio: real type, a lot of white, one obvious action. Not a theme with your logo dropped in.
- Every page gets its own title, meta description, canonical URL, and Open Graph tags.
- The words are in the HTML, so Google and the AI crawlers can read the page without running JavaScript.
- Schema for the business, and a FAQ only where you have real answers. I do not invent reviews, star ratings, or testimonials.
- A sitemap, a robots.txt that allows search and AI crawlers, and an llms.txt that points at the pages worth reading.
- A contact path on your own domain. This site's form posts to /api/contact and emails me. Yours can do the same.
- The repo and the host in your name when we are done.
Search and answers are part of the build.
A fast site that cannot be quoted is half finished. Web design here includes the SEO and AEO basics: answer-first copy, internal links, and structured data that matches the visible text. If the site already exists and you only want to be cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude, that job is AEO services. The short version of the common questions is on the FAQ.
